Everyone Else.

I'm emailing Ben everyone's work in a folder with everyone's name on the work they have done. I'm also going to post on here who has done what.

  • Jonny- HUB World Overview(all of that section), Art Direction, and the Level walkthroughs.
  • Gina - Timeline, Story Extracts, Dr Reeves' Journal, Notes by Victims, Note by Ida, Methods of Kidnappings, Previous Victims, Collectibles and The Ending.
  • Sam - Example Comic Frames, Puzzle's(Whole section), Music and Dialogue.
  • Mark - Story Characters (Whole Section)
  • Harry - UI section (And some of the art in the doc)
  • Khal - Controls.
Also I done the small write up on the flow chart ;')

Actually.

Me and Jonny have been here all day, its been stressful.

JONNY EVEN HAD A NOSE BLEED!

Aha, it's been alright. We managed to get everything done with only a few minor hiccups.
We've shown Ben the GDD and he seemed happy with it.

But basically here is a run down of what I've done towards this and the GPD.
  • Formatting of whole GDD.
  • Writing up of: Story, Story Overview, Harland Shears(all of that section), Tool's of the Hero(all of that with added images from Harry!), and some small sections through-out the document.
For the GPD I  handed same a doc with what I had been asked to cover which was: Game Mechanics and I then covered about the items that Harland will find in world.
I've also done small bits of Art which I'm sure everyone has seen at some point.

    HOLY SHIT.

We have fuckin' finished for Christmas!

    Mine Concept.

Here is a small concept for the mine, trying to gauge on how it might look. Not the best work I've done. Just trying to build up my PS work.

    Computers.

The computer in futureworks are awful. Just done 2 hours of modeling and finished my model! But the computers like to just stop working, and I've just lost all that work. There wasn't even the backup to continue from. :/
Apart from that I'm going to upload a bunch of stuff I've done in the next few posts. I won't be able to post much either, I don't have the internet right now.

    SKYRIM

    I just pre-orderd it!
However, I did find out that the standard edition will be priced at £55.
What does everyone think about this?!

    GDD, and Harland.

I'm doing parts of the GDD now, and it's going alright. (I'll have them on huddle/here by tonight)
I'm just having some thoughts as to what Ken, and Emel said about trying to have the characters seem more fleshed out, and actually have some personality/emotions. Up to now, the only motive that Harland has is to try and get out of the facility, which works fine, but we could have this as a much stronger motive.
Example - Say Harland has a family, and the only job that he can keep is mining, (due to the industrial era, mining was in need), and needs money to help his daughter/child who is really sick. So maybe, he is set on finding some form of help for his daughter while in this place. He might have purposely went into this trap, because he already has some form on info about Dr. Reeves?

I got this idea from reading Shutter Island, which is a great book! It's so much better than the film(which is really good). One of the main characters is looking for a way to get to the island, to find the guy who murdered his wife, so he can kill him. But that isn't revealed for ages. Maybe he heard about the Dr obscure, and 'unconventional'  methods, and think that could help his daughter. So he goes through each mine, looking for the facility.

    Saturday 29 October 2011

    It's Saturday!

I'm going to upload some of the stuff I've been doing later on, I don't have them on me right now!
There is the miner concept, and I've been working on the wife, and a little bit of the doctor.
I've been working on the GDD, and I'll put that up to!
Also, our working title is great!
    The SpinDoctor! ;D

    Production.

We had a production lecture today, and within this we got a number of things sorted out for the game.
We've came to the conclusion that game will not feature a life based mechanic, because of the style of the game - we wouldn't benefit from it! We had a little talk about the UI, in which everyone was a little unsure on how the game screen would appear for the player, but we seemed to have ironed that out now. We are now just trying to blast through the Concept/Proposal document, which will be in the ruff form on Wednesday.

    Games we should play.

I hope everyone has been playing the games I handed out, they are some brilliant games and will help us come up with stronger level designs.

Right now I'm blasting my way through Super Meat Boy again, and then I'm going to play Gish/Braid.
Hopefully I'll have a chance to play The Binding of Isaac to!

    First Post

My first post is going to be quite short, I'm just trying to blast through some ideas for the game mechanics so I can move onto working on my game outside of FutureWorks. I'm basically trying to nail these down, and I'm rather stuck on the whole 'upgrade/power up'. Currently I've got: device that allows player to grab the side of platforms, a device that will allow the player to have longer jumping power/sustain longer falls and the main power up of rotation. Also I'm pretty happy with the story that Gina and Jonny have come up with, it sounds like it could be interesting!

    Also this looks awesome!
